Foods Review – Strawberry Mango Smoothies

Got Mangoes? Well, I do, especially in my Foods 2 class. As a part of our course, we do a fruit unit. This allows students to freely expore a fruit of their choice. They were asked to make a Pinterest board and to make a sample dish of their fruit of choice. For my fruit, I had chosen mangoes for their smooth, delicious, and refreshing taste. In our group, we decided to make strawberry mango smoothies because why not. Click here for the smoothie recipe.

The recipe was very simple. All it called for were these ingredients below for 2 servings: 1 cup sliced strawberries, 1 cup peeled, pitted, and chopped mango, 6 ounces of plain Greek yogurt, and 6-8 ice cubes.

The instructions, are more simple than the ingredients: Place strawberries, mango, and yogurt in a blender. Blend on high for 30 seconds, add ice, and blend until smooth.

Just like that you have a great, refreshing smoothie!

If you were going to make this smoothie, I would concider these things:

  1. How much time you have to cut the strawberries and mangoes (our group used frozen strawberries to speed up the process).
  2. If you have a blender with you are not, it is important for the recipe!
  3. Make sure that you have more than enough ingredients before starting. Sometimes adding a few more ounces of yogurt or fruit can make it better!

This recipe is really healthy for you because of the simple ingredients. There are no added salts or sugars, it is all natural!
